Privacy

What you give us when you join and use STOWYK:

• Your email and password. We store the password only as a one-way hash; nobody can read it.
• Your profile: first name, birth year, town, trade, title, about, roles, and what you bring and need.
• Your location. When you pick your town we store a point moved about a kilometer at random, never your exact spot.
• What you write: posts in your Atlas, wins, Respect, asks, and private messages.
• Your Log: daily check-ins, the pillars you worked on, your weekly goal, and your mood if you choose to log it.
• Which Daily Forge you took on and finished.

To keep the place safe and running we also keep your session (a login cookie and your browser's name), and your IP address for a couple of days in rate limits that stop password guessing and spam.

Men in STOWYK see your public profile (listed in the short version above). Your Atlas sees what you post in its room, including any win from your Log you choose to share. A private message is seen only by you and the man you're talking with.

Your mood is yours alone. It never shows to other members, your Atlas, or anyone you message.

Staff read a post or message only when someone reports it, to enforce the Code. They don't browse private messages or Logs.

If you block a man, you stop seeing each other in Brothers, Atlas rooms and messages.

Only to run STOWYK for you: to put you in an Atlas near you in your trade, match what you bring with what other men need, show your Daily Forge and Log, deliver messages, and keep the brotherhood safe.

No ads, no selling or renting your data, no data brokers, no tracking pixels.

A few outside services help run the app. Each gets only what it needs:

• Hosting (Render): runs the app and stores the database.
• OpenStreetMap: turns the town you type into a place. It sees what you type and a rounded point, never your account.
• Google Fonts: serves the app's fonts, so Google sees your IP address when the page loads.

• Edit your profile, town and what you bring or need from Me.
• Download my data in Me gives you everything you wrote, as a file.
• Delete my account in Me erases your profile, Log, posts and messages for good, right away.
• Share a win from your Log or keep it to yourself, every day. Mood is always optional.

Depending on where you live (for example California or the EU), you may have more rights over your data. Everything above is open to every member, wherever he lives.

As long as your account is open. When you delete it, your data is erased right away. Reports you filed, and reports about you, are erased with your account. Rate-limit records are cleared after two days.

Passwords are hashed, every connection is encrypted, logins are rate-limited, and the app blocks cross-site requests. No system is perfect; if we ever learn your data was exposed, we'll tell you.

STOWYK is only for men 18 and over. If we learn someone younger has joined, we delete the account.

If we change this page in a way that matters, we'll tell you in the app before it takes effect. See also the Terms.

A contact email for privacy and legal questions will be listed here before STOWYK opens to the public. Until then, the Report button in the app reaches a person.
